29 December 2020
150 people over the age of 60 received the first dose of the new "EpiVacCorona" coronavirus vaccine. 89 of them received the second dose of the drug, the Rospotrebnadzor Agency reported.
Research in the 60+ age group began on November 21, when the first trial participants were vaccinated. Since then, the volunteers have been under a close medical supervision. Vaccination was carried out in groups of 30-40 people with hospitalization for a day, RIA Novosti reports. The department will publish interim results of the study in February. In total, the volunteers will be monitored for six months.
The "EpiVacCorona" is one of two vaccines (along with the "Sputnik V") already registered in Russia. The vaccine was developed at the Vector Center of the Government Agency Rospotrebnadzor. The Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that by the end of the year, more than 14 thousand doses of the EpiVacCorona vaccine will be delivered to the regions.
