Russia decided to stop importing pork

 02 January 2021

Russia's decision to stop buying pork from other countries has caused a vivid response. German companies are already sending a SOS signal. They are afraid of losing a huge market while at the same time finding a strong competitor in the their own domestic markets.

As the "Economy Today" stated, the Russian Federation has not had any need for supplies of pork for the in-country consumption for a long time.

Russia has been supplying pork to the neighboring countries and to the Asian markets.

“Someday they will start supplying Germany. This will surely happen if our policy remains the same! They are already at the start. Poor Germany! " - complained one of the readers of German Top Agrar.

The Center for Industry Expertise of the Russian Agricultural Bank states: "By the end of 2020, meat imports into the country have decreased up to only 6 percent of the total consumption. The import of pork, in particular, dropped to zero altogether".
