Russia expressed its readiness to transfer the Sputnik V vaccine manufacturing technology to Ukraine
2 January 2021
Russia is ready to fully transfer the technology of manufacturing the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine developed in Russia to Ukraine, so that the vaccine could be manufactured there, said Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).
“Of course, we are ready to fully transfer our technologies for the production of [the Sputnik V vaccine] in Ukraine,” he said, TASS news agency reported.
“We are also ready to even begin clinical trials in Ukraine of the joint vaccine of AstraZeneca and Sputnik. We are ready to cooperate with Ukraine in every possible way because we believe that vaccines should be politicized,” RIA Novosti reported.
As the health crisis in Ukraine deepens, the Ukrainians have been asking the president of the country Volodymyr Zelensky to provide them with the Russian vaccine against COVID-19.
Mr. Zelenskiy said that he was sorry that he was not able to explain to the Ukrainian population why they should not be receiving the coronavirus vaccine from Russia when Europe and the United States are not making their vaccines available to Ukraine.
