Sounds of the Arctic

The word Arctic comes from the Greek word  ἄρκτος (arktos), meaning "bear".

As the old joke goes, "How do you know which bear is chasing you? If you run, run, climb a tree, and the bear climbs after you, then this is a black bear. If you run, run, climb a tree, and the bear shakes the tree to throw you off it - this is a brown bear. If you run, run, and can't find a tree, it's a polar bear".

A Russian oil giant Gazprom-Neft (Gazprom-Oil) that mostly works above the Polar Circle gives us an an opportunity to experience the sounds of the Arctic without extremes.

Click on the picture below, and you can listen to the sound of the snow creaking under the paws of a polar bear, a finback whale blowing water, a brent goose calling, and lots of other sounds of the land frozen in time. You can even mix the tracks to sound simultaneously.

By the way, February 27 is the International Polar Bear Day. Can't wait.
